2015 Wedding Recap | Chelsea Bos Photography | Albany NY Wedding Photographer | Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer |

HEY Lovely blog readers!

I’m sitting here reflecting on my 2015 season! It was amazing!  There was so much variety, so many beautiful dresses, so many silly groomsmen, bonding, laughing, learning, a few tears shed, etc.  All in all, I am thrilled with 2015 turned out and I would love to share with you some of my favorite moments!

So here is a recap of my season with 2 photos per wedding.  One is a crowd pleaser photo and one is so I can share a favorite moment or detail from the wedding day!  I thought it would be fun to reminisce and thought you might enjoy hearing my take on favorite moments! <3

A couple weddings are not shown in this blog because the couple requested not to be blogged as part of their privacy clause. 🙂

Chrissy & Jamie

My wedding season kick off! Feels like ages ago! These two cracked me up.  They had only ONE request for the whole day.  They wanted a photo with this creature.  Is it a Yak? I think so.  It’s our modern day, photographic take on American Gothic! I love a sweet and silly couple!

Keri & Mark

There were several sweetly emotional moments from this couple’s wedding day, but the below moment just touched my heart so much.  There is something about brides that makes them seem like fame and royalty.  Well, to me at least.  A princess, even if only for a day.   Keri’s daughter was having a tough time for a bit.  She was overwhelmed and rightfully so.  Keri didn’t care that she was the bride and she nurtured her little girl with love and tenderness and it melted me- Here she is in princess form being so primal.

Moni & Ray

This couple flew in all the way from Miami to get married in Moni’s one town!! They had some amazing details to their day.  My favorite? – that necklace that Moni is wearing is, well I can’t remember how many years old she said, BUT, it’s really, really old.  It’s a family heirloom and it’s made from pearls and strung together with horse hair.  HORSE HAIR!  It’s so unbelievably intricate and beautiful!  She just put it on for a photo because it is SO very delicate, but all the women in her family have worn it on their wedding days for years.  Amazing, right?

Z Wedding

Everything about this wedding was a unique detail to me!  I got to learn about a different culture and different customs.  This wedding was spread out over 3 days. A religious ceremony in a mosque, a henna ceremony full of fun and dancing, and a formal reception.  Rubab wore a different dress to each event and each one was more gorgeous than the last.  She told me this red scarf was so heavy it was giving her a headache. But oh my gosh it is SOOOOO beautiful!

Erin & Stefano

Stefano and most of the guys who stood up with him attended St. Mary’s (same place he and Erin got married) and played football there.  St. Mary’s is now pretty well known for their red field and so the couple wanted to do some photos on the field to add a unique and sentimental twist to their wedding photos.  I won’t lie, I was skeptical about how it would turn out.  BUT, we had SO much fun being silly, pretending to hut hut hike bouquets (hehe), and getting into various football line ups that it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the day and I love the results so, so much!

Shannon & Tim

This couple had a quintessential Detroit wedding! We did photos are the Spirit of Detroit, The Fist, and The Joe (they are big time hockey fans). It’s tough to pick a favorite detail from this wedding!  Shannon wore her mom’s veil and it reminded me of a princess.  I also LOVED their first dance, but I think one of my favorite details from this wedding day was the fact that this couple brought their dogs to downtown Detroit!  HAHA! Hank and Blanche stole the show! I love when couples incorporate their pets on their special day!

A & A McMahon

This wedding wins the award for weirdest weather ever!  It would be perfectly sunny and nearly 90 degrees and within 20 minutes it was pouring rain.  Then it cleared up again only to repeat that exact same pattern 2 or 3 more times!  I LOVE my natural light, so I dragged anyone who was willing to go outside at any opportunity I had. A storm was rolling in when I took the photos below.  I was making Alicia nervous by keeping her outside, but we were ready to run for cover in the building behind her.  The photo on the right is the face she made when we heard a LOUD clap of thunder and her eyes are cast on some black clouds rolling in. We made it to shelter JUST in time!

Kristin & Robert

I’m sneakily incorporating two of my favorite things from this day. ONE was the bridesmaids coordinating but not matching dresses. WOW! But my favorite moment is featured below. K’s grandfather surprised her by playing a song for them.  He was the sweetest.  He carried his instrument around with him all day in a case without revealing why until his big surprise.  He was amazingly talented and I know this is a moment the couple will never forget.

Nick & Lauren

Married on top of a mountain! Incredible!  I did fear for the life of my camera gear on the ski lift! haha!  Taking the ski lift was a favorite moment, but so was the Mother/Son dance.  They danced to “Hey Jude” and while I don’t know exactly the meaning behind why they picked that song, I know it was PERFECT! I could just tell.  Ever since I became a mother to a little boy I get choked up during the m/s dances almost always, but this one was extra, extra sweet.  And yes, they busted their BEST moves when the song picks up the pace! <3

Amanda & George

I loved this couple’s love story! They met by working together in a local ice cream shop when they were in high school! Isn’t that awesome?  A moment that stands out to me from their wedding day is in the photo below.  As the girls were getting ready, George’s sister sweetly got choked up.  She had tears streaming down her face as she said things like “I’m just so glad he found you” and “you are so good for him”.  And then they hugged and I caught this.  Lord help me, I love moments like this.

Chelsea & Sarah

It’s a little unfair to the rest of the world that two of the most gorgeous girls ever married each other! lol Okay well, their dresses were a favorite detail of mine (OMG!) But their first look was probably my favorite moment!  We set it up so they were back to back and had them turn around at the same time.  Their reactions were so genuine and sweet.  I don’t know if you can tell from this photo, but both of their families were hiding just on the other side of those doors watching and I love thumbing through all the photos and watching the family react!

Brittany & Jason

This couple had an awesome wedding! I loved their colors, their style, their theme, her crown! My favorite thing/detail/etc about this wedding? They got married on a boat! While it was taking them out to sea! By a Captain! AT SUNSET!  I thought it was so unbelievably cool I was jealous that I hadn’t thought of it first! 😉

The Taylors

So much to love about this wedding, for example, the bride’s name is Liz and she married a Taylor…..so she is now the new Elizabeth Taylor! I can’t.  Something special I remember about this wedding is that during the ceremony, I kept catching the bride and groom sneaking peeks at each other and their faces just say it all! They are bursting with excitement to be husband and wife.  Seriously almost anytime my lens wandered over to them they were sneaking glances!

Jess & Heath

We had a few memorable moments from this wedding day but this one stands out the most!  This couple had their dog be their flower girl.  She has a little dress and everything.  Just as the ceremony began, she got off her collar and ran straight in the lake!  The groomsmen were all going after her in their suits, everyone was laughing and calling her, it was a few moments of HILARIOUS chaos.  I was laughing SO hard I was crying! The bride and groom found it hilarious too! It’s a wedding moment I will never forget.  Thanks to my second shooter Kristen for this capture!

Brandi & Carlo

Brandi is a friend of mine from childhood! We used to play dolls together when we were 5! So I was super excited to be chosen to shoot her wedding! We also had a laugh because Brandi hired me a couple times in the past for family photos and the first time she ever hired me I was about 7 months pregnant with my son.  When I shot her wedding, I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter! HAHA! Luckily Brandi doesn’t have anything against pregnant photographers.  Anyway- my favorite part of the day- probably Annabelle.  She’s a light.  She is just delightful and seeing her SO happy on her mommy’s wedding day just melted me.  She LOVES Carlo, he loves her, she also did an AMAZING whip/nae nae at the reception and yea, she was my favorite part! 😉

Amanda & Matt

Well this couple won me over when they left me a nice chunk of time for our portrait session! haha! A quick and easy way to my heart! I loved Amanda’s dress which was the lightest shade of blush pink and the bottom portion had so many awesome layers to it, anytime she moved, whether she was walking or dancing or just looking around, she looked like a Disney princess.  BUT her dress was not my favorite detail, her AWESOME bouquet was! Her sister made it! Isn’t it gorgeous?? And she can keep it forever!

Chelsea & Mike

Gah! Another dress for me to obsess over! My brides all had stunning dresses, but Chelsea wins the award for most complicated getting dressed experience….maybe ever.  I’ve been working the wedding industry for half my life and this whole getting in the dress process took the cake.  At one point, 7 people had their hands in, on, or around the dress to try and make sure it was just perfect. And it wasn’t a stressful situation! A lot of team work, a lot of giggles, and oh gosh and was it ever perfect!  I hope she was able to get out of it okay! haha!

Herman

For this wedding I got to travel to a city I’ve never been to before (can you guess from the photo?) and stay in this magnificent hotel.  It was so fun on their wedding day to just have to take the elevator down a few floors to begin shooting!  My favorite moment was their first dance.  They told me they had taken a class and coordinated their dance.  I’ve had couple do coordinated dances before, but this one was fine tuned down to every detail and they executed it perfectly! It must have taken them the entire length of their engagement to learn it! So beautiful!

Laura and Brenden

So I grew up in Michigan and I grew up a Lion’s fan! And guess what!  The Detroit Lions were AT THIS HOTEL the night of the wedding! In fact, Golden Tate wedding crashed Laura and Brenden’s big party! I love it!  Sadly, I don’t have a photo of the Lion’s  because I was afraid I would be violating some rule taking their photo… LOL So one of my favorite things from their day was Laura’s awesome perfume! Straight from Paris!  And then I took pictures of her putting the perfume on and she’s SO glamorous and beautiful, I really feel she could be advertising it.  I just love.

Ann & Mike

Last, but certainly not least.  Ann’s father passed away a few years ago.  She has two sisters and a mom.  I quickly picked up that these 4 women were extremely close and that their dad/husband meant the world to them.  They did so many beautiful things throughout the day to honor him, they talked about him all day, and he was there. I’m sure of it.  And the moment that made me really realize it was this.  Ann told me she was going to have a special song played to honor her father.  I don’t know what I was picturing, but it wasn’t this.  The song they played was “Come and Get Your Love” and these 4 danced and sang their hearts out while every single wedding guest there stood in a circle around them singing and clapping along as well. And my 32 week pregnant self could not take it. I was bawling it was TOO beautiful.  And it looks like maybe dad made an appearance in this photo…do you see the green and blue bit of light?

So there you have it!  Weddings in Upstate NY and Metro Detroit, Barn Weddings, 90 State Street, The Otesaga Resort and everywhere in between!Until next season which kicks off in April!   <3 <3
